For breakfast – just did grits in a pyrex container. Iron skillet is showing some signs of rust!!

Browning went fa-bu-lous! MIS did great and it’s so easy to work with meat with a sturdy metal spatula because MIS is T_O_U_G_H. MIS has nice even heating and all the hamburger browned on med-high heat without overcooking. Took about ten minutes once MIS was up to heat.

An iron skillet is definitely recommended for browning sloppy joe hamburger. Lean hamburger works best! Oh, and I also suggest you try Manwich Bold for a more robust sloppy joe.

After pancakes for breakfast – MIS is waiting for a meatier job this afternoon. Browning some hamburger for sloppy joes this weekend. Planning on the following:

Cleanup from the pancakes
No grease or non-stick (hamburger will brown without it)
medium heat for browning
use another bowl for mixing browned hamburger with sloppy joe sauce

I’m finding that cleaning MIS is one of the easiest things to do compared to other cooking utensils. My Iron Skillet is so tough that it doesn’t care if you need to use a metal spatula to scrape off leftovers like scrambled eggs. I highly recommend having at least one iron skillet around if you need to do some tough cooking and harsh cleanup – like a bacon and eggs breakfast.

OK, today I wanted a full country breakfast except maybe without the pancakes – so I ‘brought home the bacon’. Cooked it on medium high heat in My Iron Skillet for about 10 minutes while I whipped up some scrambled eggs and toast. Drained out most of the grease then lowered the heat significantly before pouring in the scrambled egg mixture. Sure could of used a green pepper for the eggs! More on that later. The bacon did wonderfully in MIS and even after the eggs cleanup was a snap with just dish soap and water. Raining today in south Texas so can’t climb on the motorcycle after cleanup

Pancakes on Monday

Vacation this week. Put MIS on stove for morning pancakes. MIS did great with low-medium heat, simple pancake mix and spray on vegetable oil. Cleanup was a snap using just normal dish water and the favorite soap.

My Iron Skillet cooking a nice fluffy pancake on medium heat

After drying off from his recent cleanup – My Iron Skillet (MIS) dutifully cooks up a medium sized thin but fluffy pancake. Used Pam original spray on as lubricant and Kroger brand simple pancake mix. Used milk for the mix instead of water. Medium low heat works well, just takes a little longer.

My Iron Skillet gets a cleanup with Mr. Spoon in Ajax Lemon dishcleaner

It’s time to cook breakfast pancakes – but My Iron Skillet didn’t get his cleanup last night! So it’s in the Ajax Lemon dish cleaner suds for you skillet! MIS enjoys a good cleaning and he always invites other utensils to join in the fun. In just a few minutes MIS will be on the hot seat again producing those tastey breakfast treats – pancakes.

My Iron Skillet points to Jeep wheel that also needs a good cleaning

Before washing My Iron Skillet to clean him up from those nasty hash brown left overs – he reminded me that his friend Mr. Jeep also needed a good cleaning. Note grime on Jeep wheel being pointed out by MIS.
